Engine testing

Engine test cell - LM2500 and LM5000

Air New Zealand Gas Turbines tests engines onsite in an enclosed aero engine cell. A conical slave nozzle provides load to the gas generator, allowing performance testing throughout the engine's range.

  • VSV & VBV operation
  • Air, oil and fuel leaks
  • HP/LP recoup operation
  • Vibration
  • Corrected oil pressure

  • Compressor efficiency
  • Heat rate

Trim balance

  • LPC trim balance
  • HPC trim balance

Contingency tests

PT Spin test (nozzle facility)

Pre-induction testing

  • Profiles engine prior to repair or overhaul - recommended if trending data from operational site not available
  • Compares engine against wider population of engine test data
  • Identifies issues that can be incorporated into engine work scope to avoid potential time and financial costs post depot visit
