Engine testing
Engine test cell - LM2500 and LM5000
Air New Zealand Gas Turbines tests engines onsite in an enclosed aero engine cell. A conical slave nozzle provides load to the gas generator, allowing performance testing throughout the engine's range.
Tests include:
Functional/mechanical
- Idle checks
- Power level actuator
- Restarts
- Shutdowns
- VSV & VBV operation
- Air, oil and fuel leaks
- HP/LP recoup operation
- Vibration
- Corrected oil pressure
- Oil temperatures
- Vent system operation
- Seal break-in
Engine performance
- T54IK/IGHPK
- WFK/IGHPK
- Compressor efficiency
- Heat rate
Trim balance
- LPC trim balance
- HPC trim balance
Contingency tests
PT Spin test (nozzle facility)
Pre-induction testing
- Profiles engine prior to repair or overhaul - recommended if trending data from operational site not available
- Compares engine against wider population of engine test data
- Identifies issues that can be incorporated into engine work scope to avoid potential time and financial costs post depot visit
